ChemCentre’s fibres expert Rees Powell recently spent a massive nine days in the Supreme Court of Western Australia presenting evidence in what has become known as the Claremont serial killings trial.
Rees, a senior member of the Forensic Chemistry team, provided detailed testimony about the lengthy and painstakingly detailed scientific examination and analysis of fibres undertaken in relation to the case.
After intensive examination of an extensive number of samples over a number of years, a total of 98 individual fibres were identified as critical evidence in this case.
His evidence followed that of another senior ChemCentre Forensic Scientist, Belinda Evans who presented information on the analysis of fibres and how meaningful information can be extracted to assist in criminal investigations.
