ChemCentre is inviting Western Australia’s next generation of chemists to apply for its 2025–26 Student Vacation Employment Program, offering final-year chemistry students (3rd year and honours) the opportunity to gain practical experience in world-class laboratories.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
Each year, ChemCentre offers a limited number of students the opportunity to work alongside our scientists in both the Forensic Science and Scientific Services divisions.
The program is designed to give students hands-on laboratory experience, exposure to real-world projects, and an understanding of how science directly supports government, industry, and the community.
Students selected for the program will:
- Contribute to both research and routine laboratory work
- Gain practical skills that complement their academic study
- Be mentored by experienced scientists
- Build professional networks within the scientific sector
- Receive paid public holidays and pro rata leave entitlements
The program also provides valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities within ChemCentre and may lead to future employment opportunities.
Who can apply
The program is open to final-year undergraduate chemistry students (3rd year and honours level). ChemCentre is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace and encourages applications from students of diverse backgrounds.

ChemCentre Chief Executive Officer Mr Paul Nicholls said the program plays an important role in supporting the next generation of chemists.
“Through this program, we aim to provide students with practical skills and experiences that will help shape their future careers, while also showcasing the many ways ChemCentre’s work contributes to Western Australia,” Mr Nicholls said.
