ChemCentre has launched the annual ChemCentre Indigenous Scholarship, providing financial and career support to an Indigenous school leaver or mature age Indigenous student who plans to study science at Curtin University in 2021 as the next step in their career path.
The ChemCentre Indigenous Scholarship has been created to assist and encourage Indigenous students to undertake an undergraduate degree course in science, majoring in chemistry, and ultimately, to consider ChemCentre as a future employer.
Equality and inclusion are areas where ChemCentre, as an organisation, strives to improve and grow as a contemporary, scientific, and responsible organisation. Through the provision of this scholarship we hope to see more Indigenous students pursuing career pathways in science and chemistry.
The financial value of the ChemCentre Indigenous Scholarship is $6,000, paid as a cash stipend of $1,000 per semester, to be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards their education-related expenses.
In addition to this, the scholarship recipient will be offered unique opportunities across the duration of their undergraduate degree to participate in promotional and professional opportunities at ChemCentre. If possible, a mentor will be assigned to the scholarship recipient, providing a meaningful connection and insight into the business world and ChemCentre. They will also be encouraged to apply for a highly contested paid vacation work position at ChemCentre during the semester break towards the end of their undergraduate degree.
